Getting Hairy - what to expect

What happens when you join the hairy movement?
Starting up
If you would like to stock our plants just drop us an email and tell us a bit about yourself and where you are based and we will see if we can squeeze you in to our stockist list. We will then send you a new customer form for you to fill in as best you can, so that we have all the necessary details to get started.
Getting going
Once we have your details we will add you to our weekly email list for you to receive the latest nursery and plant news and the current looking good availability list. The list is sent out at the end of the week (Friday or Saturday) once we have cleared that weeks orders and will be marked with any lines that are showing bud or flower.
Making an order
Email, phone or fax in your order by the end of the day on Monday, or noon Monday, if you are outside our normal deliver area and usually receive your orders from us via a trolley carrier (usually Bleach of Lavant). For more local deliveries we can usually accommodate orders placed by noon Tuesday at a push. We will always do our best to help out with emergency late deliveries if we possibly can, just give us a call and we will see if there is space on the bus. Minimum order is 21 trays (12 pots per tray).
Delivery routes
Just to let you know, when using our own vans, we don’t have a regular delivery route for each day of the week, we make it up as we go! For the sake of sustainability, economy and getting all the orders to the right place before the weekend, our delivery routes are planned as the orders come in, so that we can make the most efficient use of the drivers time and van space. This makes the whole exercise an ongoing juggling act and subject to some alterations as we proceed, especially if the drivers come across traffic delays etc. and in peak season when demand is high.
Once delivery is organised and the order is processed we will email a confirmation note with the order details and try to phone to book in the order (assuming we can get through)
The Marketing Package
Plants are delivered 12 pots in each of our wooden reusable boxes, which we leave with you for you to display the plants in. We don’t charge you for the boxes , unless we don’t get them back at some point, but we really need them back ASAP if they are to fulfil their purpose, to be used several times each year. If we don’t get enough boxes back regularly, the whole sustainable idea falls down and we have to buy even more boxes. I know they are lovely and tempting to make displays from stacks of them, but it doesn’t work for us or the environment. The plants are all individually labelled and bar-coded with each variety having it’s own barcode. If you want the labels priced then we can do this if requested, but it will incur a charge. Each box can be supplied with an extra small header card which tucks into the front of the box, with an image of the plant and some cultural details. Some folk like them, some prefer to keep a cleaner look to the display and rely instead on the fab pot labels. If you want the header boards you must let us know on each order as we really don’t want to waste resources supplying unneeded materials. There is a column on the order sheets to mark if you want header boards.
The first order of the season will come with a fresh set of wooden POS boards providing background info to the whole hairy pot story. There are three main designs in two sizes plus a couple of small latex allergy advice notices that should be put up close to the plants. If you need more or want a pdf version to print your own, just let us know.
LATEX ADVICE NOTICES; It is important that your team know of the latex content of the coir pots (it binds the fibres together) and put up the notices where necessary.
Returning empty boxes
Generally, we pick up any available empty wooden boxes when we deliver the next order, then at the end of the season we will come round and pick up the balance. You can contact us to pick up any excess at any time and we will get there as soon as we have a van available in the area or organise a carrier to  call in and pick them up on a pallet.
