The nursery was established in 1984 to supply local garden centres and nurseries with high quality 9cm herbaceous plants for retail sales.

The cottage garden plants are produced as both coir fibre and plastic pots in a 9cm size. The 1 litre range is all in coir fibre pots. There is a new range of culinary herbs available in the hairy coir fibre pots in both 9cm & 1 litre sizes.

The top quality 9cm and 1 litre plants for Garden Centre sales and are presented in custom designed, eco friendly, waxed fibreboard marketing trays. We are continuing to develop our eco-friendly production and presentation, which not only enhances the ‘natural’ look of the plants but also makes the product more attractive to today’s more environmentally aware consumer.

In our on-site micropropagation laboratory we grow a range of over 100 varieties and produce 600,000 plantlets a year. We can take advanced orders for the catalogue range of micropropagated young plants or customers can order from an availability list. We are able to develop and produce micropropagated crops on a contract basis, please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.

We also grow a wide range of 1, 2 & 3 litre herbaceous. The bigger pot herbaceous is grown on contract and all specifications are negotiable.

Kirton Farm is home to The Hairy Pot Plant Company our internet based retail site for our fabulously hairy cottage garden plants and herbs.
